The way this is played live (with a full band) is quite different from the album
I used the Pink Room Session video as a reference to tab this which can be found at
From the Pink Room Session, they play in what appears to be the key of Bm. The album
is in a higher key. This means if you want to play along with the album verson then you
to
all the chords up two frets (making it the key of C#m). Anyway, here it goes..
These two notes are picked at the beginning. They have a bell like effect. I think Dan
achieves this with a combination of guitar effects and harmonics.
The vocals, bass line and lead guitar then begin.
[Bass]
"Melody day what have I done..."
Lead
I can't figure what the lead guitarist is playing live exactly. If anybody has any ideas
free to contact me. This is something I came up with anyway.
These notes are played once again after the second line of lyrics. If you listen to the
or video you can figure out when it is played through out the rest of the song.
After "Then your smile it melts away again..." these chords are played.
[Bm] [G] [D] [E]
Now you return back to what was played at the first verse.
Next is slightly different to what was played in the first chorus. The chords are played
different positions.
[Bm] [D] [E]
Verse comes up once again but there is a variation in chords. If your following along
the video, this starts at 2:06.
[Bm] [G] [D] [E]
[G] [D] [A] [E]
Interlude
[F] [Bm] [A]
[F] [Bm] [A] [G]
Back to the chorus.
[Bm] [D] [E]
The keys start here and seem to hover around Bm and D. You then finish on these two chords.
[A] [G]
