Barely Human
By Robbie Fulks

Intro:
[C#m] [B]
A [E]mouth full of teeth and a [B]head full of [E]brains
Each morning, the soft rush of b[A]lood in my v[E]eins
The lips taste, the feet walk, a h[A]eart pounds within
But I'm barely [E]human after [B]one glass of [C#m]gin
What [E]footprints are these in the [B]fresh fallen [E]snow
And what kind of creature has [A]hurt my wife [E]so
Who kicked down the front door, I [A]must have been gone
I'm barely [E]human from [B]twilight 'til [E]dawn
Key change to F
She's [F]fed up, she's leaving, and [C]this time, for [F]real
But the thirst in my body is [Bb]all I can [F]feel
So slowly the clock turns, 'til [Bb]night falls at last
If I'm barely [F]human, I can [C]still lift the g[Dm]lass.[C]
With one sip, the gin hits and wipes my head clean
And it brings me a vision, a boy of 15
His eyes raised to heaven, his heart strong and brave
But I'm barely h[F]uman as I f[C]all to my grave [F]
