We Used To Vacation - Cold War Kids
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Travis M

Something about the other tabs didn't sound right, and it's most
likely because the song is done in piano. So I looked up the
acoustic song on youtube and did my best to do what it looks like
he is doing. It's not perfect because like Nathan's voice, it
isn't exactly the same throughout the entire song. These are the
basic chords and you can choose what notes to emphasize or throw
in for your own style.
Standard Tuning
EADGBe
Am G# G F# A little walk up to Am
---------------------------------------------------------------|
------------------------------------5------5--5--5-------------|
------5---------5---------5---------7------7--7--7--------5----|
---7--7------6--6------5--5------4--4------4--4--4--5--6--7----|
------x---------7---------x---------5------5--5--5--5--5--x----|
------5---------5---------5---------x------x--x--x--------5----|
Emphasize that 7, 6, 5, 4 descending on the D string with a tiny
bend or vibrato.
[Am] I kissed the kids at noon,
[G#] Then stumbled out the room,
[G] I caught a cab, ran [F#]up a tab
walk up to Am
On 7th and Flower.
Best recital I had to ruin.
Missed my son's graduation.
Punched the nickels boy for taking his seat.
He gets all that anger from me.
(He just starts strumming those chords)
Still things could be much worse.
Natural disasters on the evening news.
Still things could be much worse.
We still got our health
My paycheck in the mail
Chorus (normal open chords)
[F] [C] [G]

----1--------1--------0-----|
----2--------0--------0-----|
----3--------2--------0-----|
-------------3--------2-----|
-------------x--------3-----|
[F]I promised to my [C]wife and [G]children[F]
I'd never touch a[C]nother drink as [G]long as I live.[F]
But even then, it [C]sounds so [G]soothing.[F]
This will blow over in time[F], this will all blow over in t[Am]ime
[Am]I'm just an honest man.
Provide for me and mine.
I give a check to tax deductible charity organizations.
Two weeks paid vacation won't heal the damage done.
I need another one.
(Strum)
Still things could be much worse.
Natural disasters on the evening news.
Still things could be much worse.
We still got our health,
My paycheck in the mail
Chorus
[F]I promise to my wife and children
I'd never touch another drink as long as I live.
But even then, it sounds so soothing
To mix a drink and sink into oblivion.
I promised to my wife and children
that accident left everyone a little shook up.
But after meetings I felt so empty.
This will blow over in time. This will all blow over in time.
This is my first tab. Enjoy and have fun with it. Throw in
some flare. Nathan himself says he never can sing a song the
same way twice so do the same when playing guitar. I'm not
going to try the solo (right before "la da da da da daa, woah")
because he is just doing his thing. It's pretty much going
back and forth between that Am and G#.
