This is the last track (#12) on Casting Crowns latest album (at the current date)
"Thrive." I've done my best to tab it out properly, that doesn't mean there may not be
mistakes. If you spot one please send me a PM or shoot me an email at "[email protected]".
"Waiting On The Night To Fall" is in standard tuning with a Capo on the 3rd fret. I
believe this is how they play it (I saw them live, however I can't remember if they played
this song or not. Their guitarist used a capo on all the songs they played though). You
can remove the Capo, or move it up/down the neck to fit your vocal range.
Suggestion: This should sound much better if for the first verse and chorus you put most
of the emphasis on the high notes and only sparingly strike the low notes, then as the
song progresses gradually put more emphasis on the lower notes.

[Intro]
[G] [D] [Em] [C]
[Verse 1]
The[G]re's an old man living in the back of your wo[D]ods tonight
You f[Em]orgot he was even there, but you've n[C]ever slipped his mind
He[G]'s living off of scraps of you you never[D] knew you left behind
And a[Em7]s the sun goes down, he rises with a s[C]mile
[Chorus]
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall
The old man's coming to [G]call
Y[D]ou don't see the writing on the [Em7]wall
He'll never step out in the [C]light
No, he's just biding[G] time
And while you [D]slumber, he's gonna come and take it [Em]all
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall[Em]
He's waiting on the night to[Am7] fall[A7]
[Verse 2]
He[G] knows you have the answers, but Truth lies[D] dusty on your shelf
And the s[Em7]word that you could slay him with has become an or[C]nament and nothing else
You could p[G]ut him back down in his hole in the ground, but he[D] knows you never will
He's been[Em7] around so long you got used to the [C]smell
[Chorus]
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall
The old man's coming to [G]call
Y[D]ou don't see the writing on the [Em7]wall
He'll never step out in the [C]light
No, he's just biding[G] time
And while you [D]slumber, he's gonna come and take it [Em]all
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall[Em]
He's waiting on the night to[Am7] fall[A7]
[Bridge]
He k[C]nows he'll never have your soul
But [G]he will gladly rob you blind
Whil[D]e you're feasting at his table, he'll t[Em]ie your hands and numb your mind
He'l[C]l take you farther than you wanna go
He'l[G]l keep you longer than you wanna stay
And i[Em]t will cost you more than you ever thought you'd[D] pay
[Chorus]
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall
The old man's coming to [G]call
Y[D]ou don't see the writing on the [Em7]wall
He'll never step out in the [C]light

And while you [D]slumber, he's gonna come and take it [Em]all
He's waiting on the night to[C] fall[Em][C][Em]
