Jason Isbell- "The Magician"
From the Album Sirens of the Ditch
http://www.jasonisbell.com/
Just thought I'd be the first to put up a Jason Isbell tab on this site. Its my first
so it may look a little sloppy. I don't really know if the names of the chords I wrote are
so I just figured I'd write them down. I'm pretty sure this is the way he plays
the chords in the songs as well.
Chords used-
G: 3x0033
F#/G: 2x0033
Em/G: 02x033
D: xx0232
C/G: x3x033
Am/G: x02233
Intro:
[G] [F#/G] [Em/G]
[G] [F#/G] [Em/G]
[G] [F#/G] [Em/G] [D] [C/G]
Verse:
[G]You watch ever[F#/G]y move[Em/G]
[G]and call it sl[F#/G]ight o[Em/G]f hand
[G]you know it's [F#/G]what I[Em/G] do

[G]started on th[F#/G]e stre[Em/G]et
[G]cards and dol[F#/G]lar bi[Em/G]lls
[G]shuffling[F#/G] my fe[Em/G]et
never could be[D] still, never could b[C/G]e still[G]

[D] [C/G] [Em/G]
an[G]d I am an orphan man but ain't we all
[D]I can m[C/G]ake myself disappear[Em/G][F#/G][G]
[D]I am an [C/G]orphan man but [Em/G]ain't we all[F#/G][G]
[D]I could b[C/G]e somewhere worse than [Em/G]here[F#/G][G]
(Next two verses and all following choruses are the same)
I had a bride
sawed her in half
couple people cried
but most of them just laughed, most of them just laughed
and I had a son
strong of hand and will
taught him how to run
but never how to steal, never how to steal
I am an orphan man but ain't we all
I can't make myself reappear
I am an orphan man but ain't we all
I hope there's somewhere worse than here
Bridge:
[Am/G]I was called [C/G]amazing
[Am/G]I make folks [C/G]believe
[Am/G]With nothing [C/G]in my pockets
[Am/G]And nothing u[C/G]p my sleeve
(solo/bridge chords same as verses)
I am an orphan man but ain't we all
I can make myself disappear
I am an orphan man but ain't we all
and I know there's somewhere worse than here
worse than here
worse than here
