This song is what brought me to this fantastic site! I had been searching
for weeks for a tab on this song, and finally one of my searches led me
here, and I found the version posted here by Raymond Graham. I grabbed my
guitar, and sat down in front of my cd player, and tried to play along - but
it just did not sound quite right in a lot of Raymond's transcription.
So, this gave me the push I needed to get off my lazy butt, and do a little
figgerin' out myself.
So- - -
This is a revision to the file posted by Raymond Graham - Raymond did all
the hard work, typing this all out in the first place - I just changed his
chords to my version. This is my first attempt at posting a song, so bear
with me!
It opens with a slow strum down the Em chord -
omitting the high E string
Please note: Occasionally, the high G note [3rd fret, first string] is added
to the Am chords as they pick around the chords - you can hear them clearly
if you listen close. I didn't include any fingerpicking tablature, I think
it's better, anyway, rather than to play a certain ''set'' way, to just pick
out notes around the chords according to how you feel the song!
[Verse 1]
[Em]So you say your loves about to [Am]end
You say you can't t[C]ake no more, she's out the door
And you're l[C]ooking [C/B]for [Am7] a fr[G]iend.
[Em] Who am I to tell you [Am]why?
But I'm just c[C]urious, were you furious
Or did you s[C]wallow [C/B]your pri[Am7]de,
And lo[D]ok her in the eye and
[Chorus 1:]
[G]Tell her that you love her
[G]Tell her that you need her
[Bm7/F#]Tell her that you want her to stay
[C]Reassure her with a kiss
[C]She ma[C/B]y never k[Am7]now unle[D]ss you
[G]Show her what you're feeling
[G]Tell her you're believing
[Bm7/F#]Even though it's hard to say
[C]Cause she needs to know you're thinking of her
So o[C]pen [C/B]up and t[Am7]ell her that you love h[G]er
[Verse 2]
[D-Em] Brother I've been right where you are [Am]now
And my h[C]eart was broke, cause I never spoke
Those [C]healing [C/B]words [Am7]out lo[G]ud.
[Em] But I learned my lesson w[Am]ell,
Now ev[C]ery night, before I close my eyes
I loo[C]k at my w[C/B]oman and I [Am7]ask myse[D]lf, did you
[Chorus II:]
[G]Tell her that you love her
[G]Tell her that you need her
[Bm7/F#]Tell her that you want her to stay
[C]Reassure her with a kiss
[C]She may [C/B]never kn[Am7]ow unle[D]ss you
[G]Show her what you're feeling
[G]Tell her you're believing
[Bm7/F#]Even though it's hard to say
Cause she n[C]eeds to know you're thinking of her
So o[C]pen u[C/B]p and te[Am7]ll her that you love
[Chorus 3- KEY CHANGE]
[A]Tell her that you love her
[A]Tell her that you need her
[C#m7/G#]Tell her that you want her to stay
[D]Reassure her with a kiss
[D]She may n[D/C#]ever k[Bm7]now unle[E]ss you
[A]Show her what you're feeling
[A]Tell her you're believing
[C#m7/G#]Even though it's hard to say
[D]Cause she needs to know you're thinking of her
So o[D]pen [D/C#]up and t[Bm7]ell her that you love h[A]er
[C#]Woh y[D]eah, T[E]ell her that you love her
[Play a slow ending strum on F#m]
Ending riff notes:
Altho its a lot of moving on the neck, I prefer playing it all on the B
string - I just like the sound better that way. Since I am not familiar
with proper tablature notation, let me explain what I mean:
\ slide down
/ slide up
Of course, since these notes aren't played on the guitar at all, you just
play them how you feel 'em! Illustrated above is how I "feel" 'em.
