tabbed by: [email protected]
Standard tuning
Intro:
(melodica & banjo arr. for guitar)
The melodica and banjo keep playing that (hang on the E note on the last measure) while
guitar comes in with an E
Ryan has a very loose playing style and he continues to strum an E while playing the
riff on his bass notes:
[E]
VS: (E B7 E (A-G-E))
"It took... As judge... And the rain... Shook the grass, leaves, gravel
[E] [B7] [E] [A] [G] [E]
CHS: (E A E B7 (E-hold))
"You try...you try...you try and...home All the roots...
[E] [A] [E] [B7] [E]
After striking the E chord on "roots" the guitar strums muted strings, the banjo plays
E on upstrokes and the melodica plays the turnaround to the intro
Repeat intro section
VS2: repeat the VS section twice
CHS2: repeat the CHS section
repeat intro riff 3 times and end on E
Bridge:
[E]
[E]Mother why'd you [G]have to go and [A]clip my golden wings
I'm gonna [G]fly off this [A]building all the [E]same
[E]You put me down in the [G]darkest well, [A]still that water stings
I'm gonna [G]fly off this [A]building all the [E]same ... etc
Once the vocals kick in on the bridge the banjo plays:
"Mother why'd you... I'm gonna fly... all the same...
VS3: play VS section once
CHS3: play the CHS section once but play each chord by striking 5
downstrokes until the B7 and play that with a slow rake
Outro:
"All the roots... try to, way back home
[E] [A] [G] [E]
Play the A G E part three more times then play the intro riff one time and end on E
There's a lot going on in this one ... I tried to make it as clear as I could ... hope it helps
