[A]Was on a flight home from'well, it doesn'[G]t matter
With [F]eleven [E]hours, a [F]million thoughts were [G]gathering
[A]My mind kept going to my garden of l[G]avender
I[F] wanted to [E]get to them so [F]they wouldn't [G]die
[A]When I got home, they were dry as [G]wheat
While the [F]vines t[E]hrived around them [F]B-horror film [G]green
[A]Not sure what my lavender [G]symbolize
But [F]insid[E]e my [F]heart [G]cried
[A]My heart is drawn to the small out-of-the-[G]way things
That [F]I can't [E]help but to give my [F]focus and attention and [G]care
[A]Cause they shut off what hijacks my [G]brain
And [F]help to [E]tune out what [F]can cause me [G]pain
[A]And I care for the animals around my [G]yard
And my [F]sister's [E]children and I [F]care for my [G]garden
[A]Swarmed upon by [G]bumblebees
And [F]yellow j[E]ackets and wasps and h[F]ornets that can dart out and [G]sting
[A]I see the big orange [G]tabby cat
G[F]etting [E]warm on the c[F]over of the hot [G]tub
[A]He turns over [G]on his back
L[F]ooking [E]for a [F]belly [G]rub
[A]I see the deer tracks [G]in the snow
On the [F]animal [E]path
That l[F]eads into my backy[G]ard
[A]I hear the sound of my girl[G]friend's car
C[F]oming up the [E]driveway and it [F]fills my heart With [G]joy
[A]Though I know it will all end [G]someday
And [F]someone [E]else will be [F]sleeping in my mountain [G]house
[A]Wondering who lived [G]here before
Just [F]like I sometimes [E]do
Though I [F]never really cared to [G]explore
[A]I see the chocolate and peanut [G]butter cat
I l[F]ook at him and he [E]looks back
I snap my [F]fingers and blow him a [G]kiss
[A]He rubs his head against my hand and we r[G]eminisce
I walk [F]downtown and see the [E]Christmas lights
Along the [F]highway and how they [G]shine
[A]And I'm reminded of when I [G]was a child
And how [F]happy I [E]felt when I [F]opened the box and saw a [G]guitar inside
[A]Was on a flight to somewhere I can't [G]remember
I feel [F]like I've [E]lived so many [F]lives, I can't put it all [G]together
[A]Dordrecht, Holland, yeah [G]that was it
I had a [F]nice dinner with a [E]concert promoter and [F]his Korean wife, Suyoung [G]Kim
[A]Then dropped me off at an old spooky [G]hotel
I felt [F]like an [E]old man in a [F]castle looking over at the [G]canl
[A]And I went and I played for a crowd but my heart wasn't t[G]here
I came [F]back to my [E]room and [F]slouched in my [G]bed
[A]And I fell asleep still stewing about my dried up [G]lavender
And I [F]fell as[E]leep in the [F]dark dead [G]night
[A]And I dreamed of a bluejay picking up a [G]seed
And [F]passing [E]it to [F]another's [G]beak
[A]Then watched him soar to [G]another branch
Then a [F]baby possum [E]hissed at me as I [F]crept up on him near a trash [G]can
[A]And I woke up one rainy morning in Dordrecht, [G]Holland
Then [F]got on a [E]flight for [F]London, [G]England
