I picked this one out on piano. It's kind of tough to do the descending
baseline with a guitar, but it sounds really cool.
From Space Oddity, or Man of Words, Man of Music.
FYI:
D/C#: X40232
D/C: X30232
D/B: X20232
Bb6: X13333
A#dim:X12023 or XX2323, I prefer the former.
E7sus:020200
[D] [D/C#] [D/C] [D/B] [Bb6] [C] [E7sus] [E7]
[D]Solemn faced the [D/C#]village settles [D/C]down, unde[D/B]tected by the [Bb6]stones
And the [A]hangman plays the [A#dim]mandolin before he goes to
[D]Sl[D/C#]eep, [D/C]and the [D/B]last thing on his [Bb6]mind
is the [A]wild-eyed boy [A#dim]imprisoned 'neath the
[D]covered wooden sh[D/C#]aft, [D/C] folds the [D/B]rope into it's [Bb6]bag.
[A]Blows his pipe of [A#dim]smolders, blankets
[D]smoke into the [D/C#]room, an[D/C]d the [D/B]day will end for [Bb6]some.
[C]As the [G]night begins for [F]one.[E7sus][E7]
(Chords the same until they pick up again)
Staring through the message in his eyes lies a solitary son
from the mountain called the freecloud where the
eagle dare not fly, and the patience in his sigh
gives no indication for the
townsmen to decide, so the village dreadful groans
Pronouncing gross diversion as the
label for the dog. Ooo it's the madness in his eyes
As he [C]breaks the night to [G]cry
Its really [D]me[D/C#], [D/C] really [D/B]you and really [Bb6]me
[A]It's so hard for [A#dim]us to really
[D]be[D/C#], [D/C] Really [D/B]you, really [Bb6]me,
You'll [A]lose me though I'm [A#dim]always really
[D]fre[D/C#]e.[D/C][D/B][C][C][C][C]
And the [C]mountain moved it's eyes to the [C7]world and realized
Where the [Bb]snow had saved a [Ab]place for the [C]wild-eyed boy from [E7sus]free cloud[E7]
(Same chords)
And the village dreadful cried as the moat began to rise
For the smile stayed on the face of the wild-eyed boy from freecloud.
And the [G]women once proud clutched the [C]heart of the crowd
as the [G]boulders smashed down from the [C]mountains hand.
And the [Am]magic in the stare of the [C]wild-eyed boy said
[Am]"Stop Free Cloud, [C]they won't think to [E7sus]cut me down, no, no, [E7]no!"
But the [F]cottages [C]fell like a [F]playing card [C]hell
and the [Bb]tears on the [F]face of the [C]wise boy
came [F]trembling [C]down to the [F]rumbling [C]ground
and the [Bb]missionary [F]mystic of [C]peace/love
[D]Stumbled back to [D/C#]cry among the [D/C]clouds[D/B][Bb6]
[A]Kicking back the [A#sus]pebbles from the [D]Free Cloud [D/C#]mountain's [C]track.
