[G]While travelling n[D/F#]orthwards on a [G]back [G/A]count[G/B]ry la[C]ne
I came on the v[Em]illage where f[Am]irst I g[Em]rew
[G]And stopped to c[D/F#]limb up the h[G]ill [G/A]once [G/B]agai[C]n
Looking down from the t[Em]racks to the g[Am]rey slate r[Em]oofs
I watched the village mo[D]ving as the [Em]day went slowly [D]by
In the fi[G]elds [D]we l[C]ay h[G]ere my v[C]ery first [Em]love and[Am] I
Under t[G]imeless arc[D]adian s[A]kies
G D C Em Am intro
Under timeless arcadian skies
The old canal lies sleeping under the sky
The barges are gone to a lost decade
On overgrown banks here lovers' footsteps went by
Long before ever the roads were made
And in our turn we passed here and carved our names on trees
As the days washed by like waves of an endless sea
Under timeless arcadian skies
Under timeless arcadian skies
[Bb6]Time [A7]runs through your f[Dm]ingers
[E]You never h[Am]old it at a[E]ll till it?s [Am]gone
[Bb6]Some f[A7]ragments just li[Dm]nger w[E]ith you
Like s[Am]now in the s[E]pring hanging [Am]on[G]
I left the village behind in the night
To fade like a sail in the darkening seas
The shifts and changes in the patterns of life
Will weather it more than the centuries
And in another village in a far off foreign land
The new day breaks out opening up its hand
And the sun has the moon in his eyes
As he wanders the timeless skies
