From this chair I see the [G5]sun

We'll be together on the [Am]eve of [C]World War [G5]III

And when they said they'd purged their [Am]conscience,
For a second I thought they [C]meant it.
So in the congress hear them [G5]plead,
And try and carve their words in [C]history
Though we all fear the loss of [Am]life,
Our leaders fear the [C]rise in global [G5]petrol prices.
So darling [Am]share this [C]wine with[G5] me.

According to Craig at BHP, the G string is played open for

think this may be the case.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELEN

Things of Stone and Wood
This is the best I can do so far. The chords for the extended chorus at the
end are possibly wrong - If anyone finds something wrong, tell me - I
want to play it right too. As far as the 'solo'(if thats what you'd call it)
goes, don't hasle too much about the D note running through it. If you're
playing in a group, it won't be missed (in fact, I don't think TOSAW worry
about it much when they play it live anyway). Otherwise you can just get the
bass to play - probably best.

With the riff part of 'A C D', it usually goes back to a C,
more as a ghost note than anything - add it in here and there
if you think it's worth it.

SINGLE PERFECT RAINDROP
~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
Things of Stone and Wood
Timing: 4/4
During singing, the G chord is played in an arpegio fashion,
during the viola part it's strummed. I'm not a great fan of
this song, so I haven't put too much work into transcribing it
- sorry if you do like it.
[G]Well I wander round this mind amidst the
[G]Ruins of a lonely child,
[G]I used to think I talked with spirits
[G]Now I think I talk with crooks,
[G]And I wonder if I ever did
[G]Anything good at all.
[G]Ever.
[G]So I lie awake at night and vow
[G]I'm not going to think about.
I've got [C]self deception tattooed like a [G]flag across my back,
[C]Holding hands with war-mongers I [G]feel I've been betrayed,
[C]Though I dance in luxury without [G]her I'll die of thirst,
She's a [C]single perfect [G]raindrop,
[C]When she falls she takes my breath away.
Well I [G]advertise the scars of middle classness
[G]Like a shiny piece of junkmail,
[G]I've inherited the meanness
[G]Like a dinnerset kept for family gatherings,
[G]But she will scream and tell me all the
[G]Magic in her magic life,
[G]We will laugh at how I'm scared of
[G]Everything that moves lest it crash
[G]Into me or with me in it.
I've got [C]self deception tattooed like a [G]flag across my back,
[C]Holding hands with war-mongers I [G]feel I've been betrayed,
[C]Though I dance in luxury without [G]her I'll die of thirst,
She's a [C]single perfect [G]raindrop,
[C]When she falls she takes my breath away.
[C]Ah ..... What a [G]dissapointment this would all be
[C]Ah ..... What a dissapointment.
'Cause I've got [C]self deception tattooed like a [G]flag across my back,
[C]Holding hands with war-mongers I [G]feel I've been betrayed,
[C]Though I dance in luxury without [G]her I'll die of thirst,
She's a [C]single perfect [G]raindrop,
[C]When she falls she takes my breath away.
The intro isn't definitive, it's just a guide - I usually play it different
every time. The chords during the verses etc. are played in the same general
fashion.
(Hey!) [G5]Helen let's ditch the car let's hide
We'll through [Csus9]seeds of doubt at passersby
[Am]They will cross onto our side,
We'll [C]sing our songs into the night
As we [G5]cast off all those strange facades
We'll [Csus9]see that we're all uniquely scarred
By the [Am]same hand
Beneath the [C]same smile
(Singin' [G5]Hey) We're all just earings to the [Csus9]left of our parents
[Am]They're all just haircuts to the [C]left of theirs
[G5]And we all wonder
"Why do [Csus9]nazis grow like wildflowers!"
[G5]Everybody dreams the same visions [Csus9]in the end
I [Am]know, everybody feels [C]trapped and tired
So if you [G5]see a strange door to your right
Then [C]drop your things and run for it
(Singin' [G5]Hey) We're all just earings to the [Csus9]left of our parents
When he was [G]young he walked with such [C]gentle steps
While [G]leaving no trace he [C]thought he was blessed
He said,[G] "I won't do a[C]ny harm"[G][G]
His [G]dreams they were filled with the [C]forgiveness of spring
He [G]thanked the sky for any [C]gift
He said,[G] "I won't do any [C]harm here"
But he heard [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]cheat to succeed there my [C]naive child"
As he [Am]surrended he thought he did so too [C]easily
[G]Frankie cried at his very first lie
The [G]lie it was simple and it's [C]produce was great
Guilt [G]twisted it's fingers [C]around his heart
He said [G]"I did not mean any [C]harm"[G][G]
But soon [G]ambition replaced all the [C]love he had known
The [G]spring wasn't rebirth but [C]prosperity now
He said [G]"I've not done many [C]things wrong"
But he heard [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]steal to stay here my [C]angry young man"
He said "[Am]I shan't be robbed of my [C]labour's toil"
And he [G]did not feel at his hundredth evil
[G] [C] [G] [C]
Now he hears [G]condemnation in the [C]winds as they creep
[G]In through the walls of this [C]castle he's built
He says [G]"You can't touch me any [C]more"[G][G]
But the [G]cold and the hate they're just [C]one in his bones
The sweet [G]dreams of the young make him [C]angrier still
He cautions "[G]When you've done what I've done you will [C]think what I think"
[G] [G]
But he hears [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]kill to stay here my [C]angry old man"
And he [Am]looks out with scorn at his [C]colourless world
[G]Frankie grins at his [C]millionth sin
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELEN
Things of Stone and Wood
This is the best I can do so far. The chords for the extended chorus at the
end are possibly wrong - If anyone finds something wrong, tell me - I
want to play it right too. As far as the 'solo'(if thats what you'd call it)
goes, don't hasle too much about the D note running through it. If you're
playing in a group, it won't be missed (in fact, I don't think TOSAW worry
about it much when they play it live anyway). Otherwise you can just get the
bass to play - probably best.
SINGLE PERFECT RAINDROP
~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
Things of Stone and Wood
Timing: 4/4
During singing, the G chord is played in an arpegio fashion,
during the viola part it's strummed. I'm not a great fan of
this song, so I haven't put too much work into transcribing it
- sorry if you do like it.
[G]Well I wander round this mind amidst the
[G]Ruins of a lonely child,
[G]I used to think I talked with spirits
[G]Now I think I talk with crooks,
[G]And I wonder if I ever did
[G]Anything good at all.
[G]Ever.
[G]So I lie awake at night and vow
[G]I'm not going to think about.
I've got [C]self deception tattooed like a [G]flag across my back,
[C]Holding hands with war-mongers I [G]feel I've been betrayed,
[C]Though I dance in luxury without [G]her I'll die of thirst,
She's a [C]single perfect [G]raindrop,
[C]When she falls she takes my breath away.
Well I [G]advertise the scars of middle classness
[G]Like a shiny piece of junkmail,
[G]I've inherited the meanness
[G]Like a dinnerset kept for family gatherings,
[G]But she will scream and tell me all the
[G]Magic in her magic life,
[G]We will laugh at how I'm scared of
[G]Everything that moves lest it crash
[G]Into me or with me in it.
[C]Ah ..... What a [G]dissapointment this would all be
[C]Ah ..... What a dissapointment.
'Cause I've got [C]self deception tattooed like a [G]flag across my back,
[C]Holding hands with war-mongers I [G]feel I've been betrayed,
[C]Though I dance in luxury without [G]her I'll die of thirst,
She's a [C]single perfect [G]raindrop,
[C]When she falls she takes my breath away.

[Am] A year [C]ago [Am]when you were [D]here
In our home
[INTRO]
So I will [G5]raise my voice to the [D]north-bound wind
In the [C]morning you will [G5]hear me sing
A [G5]breeze to soothe your [D]fitful rest
You'll [C]hold this ghost song [G5]to your chest
You'll [Am]cross the desert, [C]cross the seas
For a [G5]second you will [D]lie with me
[Am] You'll lie with me[C] [Am]You'll lie with [D]me
In our home.

The harmonica part of this song is played through a
'Wah' pedal - I think they sometimes also use a
distortion pedal, like in 'Hand Grenade'.

Remember the day
She danced to the rocks there at Eden

Still
I
See the man and his tyre
'neath his belly to stop him from drowning
Then he walked on water
(Play FILL #1 twice - This time with an accoustic guitar strumming D
on the first beat of each bar)
And [Am]we
Talked there for [C]hours
About [Am]whether
Or not I be[C]lieved in [G]you
And [Am]so I looked up to the [C]mountains
And I kn[Am]ew that the dream will live [D]on
(Play FILL #1 twice - continue through verses)
Slumber
On you morning that wakes
The lovers entwined in their small tent
Oh oh oh oh ...
Hold
That
Breath you shall blow
Sending lovers from here back to Melbourne
Pass them over
Hey-ey ...
And [Am]I
Felt like a [C]good man
As I [Am]held her
There by the[C] stream[G]
And [Am]from a snake so black she [C]fled into my arms
And I kn[Am]ew the dream will live on[D]
[No chord - spoken]
This is my prayer
[Am]Please forgive me [C]my despair[G]
And [Am]set my raging [C]spirit [G]free
And [Am]I will [C]sing for [G]you my [Am]prayer
You've [Am]laid me in her arm[C]s
You've [Am]bathed us in [C]summer light

[G5]Across this land everybody settled down[Csus9]
To a night of fitful [Am]dreams
And strange appa[C]ritions
As we [G5]tossed and turned we saw ourselves [Csus9]exactly as we are
And not surp[Am]risingly we found i[C]t frightening
Hey![G5][Csus9][Am][C]
Well you don't [G5]choose the place or choose the time
But [Csus9]history's a slippery slide
Be [Am]careful of those nasty drops down [C]to the right
When your [G5]hit it must seem a pretty good choice
For [Csus9]they give all of our malice voice
[Am]What do we expect if we won't [C]open our arms
G5(?) Csus9(?)
(Singin' Hey) We're all just earings to the left of our parents
[Am]They're all just haircuts to the [C]left of theirs
[G5]And we all wonder
"Why do [Csus9]nazis grow like wildflowers!"
(Hey!) [G5]Helen let's ditch the car let's hide
We'll through [Csus9]seeds of doubt at passersby
[Am]They will cross onto our side,
We'll [C]sing our songs into the night
As we [G5]cast off all those strange facades
We'll [Csus9]see that we're all uniquely scarred
By the [Am]same hand
Beneath the [C]same smile
(Singin' [G5]Hey) We're all just earings to the [Csus9]left of our parents
[Am]They're all just haircuts to the [C]left of theirs
[G5]And we all wonder
"Why do [Csus9]nazis grow like wildflowers!"
[G5]Everybody dreams the same visions [Csus9]in the end
I [Am]know, everybody feels [C]trapped and tired
So if you [G5]see a strange door to your right
Then [C]drop your things and run for it
(Singin' [G5]Hey) We're all just earings to the [Csus9]left of our parents
[Am]They're all just haircuts to the [C]left of theirs
[G5]And we all wonder
"Why do [Csus9]nazis grow like wildflowers!"

FRANKIE GRINS (AT HIS MILLIONTH SIN)
~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~ ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Things of Stone and Wood
Timing: 4/4
When he was [G]young he walked with such [C]gentle steps
While [G]leaving no trace he [C]thought he was blessed
He said,[G] "I won't do a[C]ny harm"[G][G]
His [G]dreams they were filled with the [C]forgiveness of spring
He [G]thanked the sky for any [C]gift
He said,[G] "I won't do any [C]harm here"
But he heard [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]cheat to succeed there my [C]naive child"
As he [Am]surrended he thought he did so too [C]easily
[G]Frankie cried at his very first lie
[G] [C] [G] [C]
The [G]lie it was simple and it's [C]produce was great
Guilt [G]twisted it's fingers [C]around his heart
He said [G]"I did not mean any [C]harm"[G][G]
But soon [G]ambition replaced all the [C]love he had known
The [G]spring wasn't rebirth but [C]prosperity now
He said [G]"I've not done many [C]things wrong"
But he heard [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]steal to stay here my [C]angry young man"
He said "[Am]I shan't be robbed of my [C]labour's toil"
And he [G]did not feel at his hundredth evil
[G] [C] [G] [C]
Now he hears [G]condemnation in the [C]winds as they creep
[G]In through the walls of this [C]castle he's built
He says [G]"You can't touch me any [C]more"[G][G]
But the [G]cold and the hate they're just [C]one in his bones
The sweet [G]dreams of the young make him [C]angrier still
He cautions "[G]When you've done what I've done you will [C]think what I think"
[G] [G]
But he hears [Am]whispers as he walked past the [C]fake gold lights
"You must [G]kill to stay here my [C]angry old man"
And he [Am]looks out with scorn at his [C]colourless world
[G]Frankie grins at his [C]millionth sin
[G]Frankie cried at his [C]very first lie
And he [G]did not feel at his [C]hundredth evil
Now [G]Frankie grins at his [C]millionth sin[C][C][G]
