This is a great song on Flogging Molly's new cd, 'Within a Mile of Home'. I really
enjoy this song, and I wanted to learn how to play it. Most of this sounds right, but
the bits in-between the chorus and the verses sound a bit off. I just played around
until I got this, so I won't say it's 100%, but I'm pretty positive that the chorus,
verse, and the bridge tabs are correct. If you can figure out the little in-between
parts, please send me an e-mail so I can correct it: [email protected].
(Chorus)
[D]Sail away where no b[G]all and chain
Can [D]keep us from the roarin' [A]waves
[D]Together u[G]ndivided but f[A]orever we'll be fr[D]ee
[D]So sail away abo[G]ard our rig
The [D]moon is full and so are [A]we
[D]We're seven drunken p[G]irates
We're the [A]seven deadly si[D]ns
[Am] [D] [Am] [E/Em] [Am]
[D]So the years rolled by and several died
And left us somewhat reel[A]in'
[D]Johnny strummed his Tommy gun
Left blastin' through the c[A]eiling
[D]So what became of rebels
Who sang for you and me?
Grapplin' with their [G]demons
In the s[A]earch for liber[D]ty
[D]Sufferers who suffer all
Can swim upon the de[A]sert
[D]Where avarice has ravaged all
In spite of good int[A]entions
[D]Don't fill your mouth with gluttony
For pride will surely swell
But nothing's unfor[G]given in the fo[A]ur corners of h[D]ell
(Chorus)
[D]Envy and its evil twin
Its crept in bed with sl[A]ander
[D]Idiots they gave advice
But sloth it gave no an[A]swer
[D]Anger kills the human soul
With bitter tales of lust
While Pavlov's Dogs keep c[G]hewin'
On the [A]legs they never tru[D]st
(Chorus)
[Am] [D] [Am] [E/Em] [Am]
But it's the [F]only life we'll k[C]now
[Em]Blagards to the bo[C]ne
So don't wreck yourself
Take an h[G]onest grip
For there's more t[F]ales beyond the sho[C]re[D]
Ah the years rolled by and several died
And left us somewhat reelin'
In and out came crawlin' out
And spewed upon the ceiling
So what became of rebels
That sang for you and me
[D]Grapplin' with their de[G]mons
In the se[A]arch for liber[D]ty
(Chorus)
