I once kissed a sunflower
[C]and stroked her petalled hair
[G]there were many others
growing in the [C]flower bed
[D]tulips and daffodils
[C]growing there
[G]morning glory and [C]daisies
[G]blooming there
all the other flowers
[C]were so delicate and sweet
[G]but I hardly noticed them
[C]for they were at my feet
[D]sunflower looked [C]at me
eye to eye
sunflower smiled
[G]a smile so wide
[C]that it was the biggest smile
that could ever be
[G]I wanted to pick her
[C]and to take her home with me
[D]but if I picked her
[G]she [C]soon will die
so I decided [G]to leave her lie
[C]and I would gather morning dew
and spread it on her thin
[G]then I bought a garden plot
[C]and gently moved her in
[D]we were alone [C]and the day was done
all I could say then was
[G]you're the one
[D]we were alone
[C]and the day was through
all I could say then was [G]I love you
