[C]Since I saw that rodeo in [F]1965
I [G7]had to try to be the greatest [C]bareback rider alive
I went and did some practicing on [F]pa's old ropin' mare
And I [G7]thought I'd take that bronc I'd drawed
And really part it's [C]hair
When they opened up the gate he d[F]id a double flip
[G7]Half way through the second one is [C]when I lost my grip
I hooked my spurs into the dees and [F]hung with all my might
I [G7]held my breath he chinned the moon
And sucked back to the [C]right
My boots came off and went asailin' [F]right up in the stands
My[G7] belt it broke and shattered my watch [C]I lost my wedding band
I scattered all my cigarettes my [F]shirt ripped down the back.
I [G7]sure was gettin' dizzy and I thought my neck would [C]crack
I rode him several jumps with both hands [F]high up in the air
He [G7]jumped into an old light pole we [C]parted company there
I landed in some muddy slop he [F]stomped right through my side
[G7]Nothin' ever busted me like [C]that old pony ride
I couldn't seem to catch my breath I [F]couldn't seem to hide
I [G7]hobbled back barefooted just a [F]searchin' for my [C]pride
[C]And I just couldn't believe my [F]achin' ears
When the [G7]announcer said RE-RI[C]DE [F]RE-RIDE [C]RE-RIDE
I've had enough for 20 men and he calls up RE[G7]-RIDE
RE-[F]RIDE RE-[C]RIDE
You'd think he got me go[FADE]od enough they give him one more [G7]try
