I figured out this song a few years ago by studying Chan's hands at a
concert in Providence.
It's from the album Travelers and Thieves (a work of genius!)the only
difference in the playing is that on the last verse on the album, everything
is shifted up one half-step.
When she[A] wakes it s[D]eems so s[A]hady, she re[D]members [E]she's a [A]lady
Oh but[F#m] could it be that [E]maybe she was h[A]aving l[D]ots of [E]fun
She s[A]ees she's we[D]aring le[A]ather, in her [D]navel th[E]ere's a [A]feather
She ju[F#m]st has to crack a s[E]mile and close her e[A]yes her p[D]rayer b[A]egun
chorus:
[A]Life [D]I em[A]brace you, I shall h[D]onor a[E]nd di[A]sgrace you
Please fo[F#m]rgive if I re[E]place you
You see I'm go[A]ing thr[D]ough some p[E]ain
But [A]now I[D] see c[A]learly, and the d[D]awn is c[E]oming n[A]early
And though I'm h[F#m]uman and it's e[E]arly
I swear I'll ne[A]ver fo[D]rget a[A]gain
An explorer he went wandering
To satisfy his pondering
Basically meandering
Unsure of what he'd find
Braving any danger
But to his family he's a stranger
And from time to time he turns around
And this runs through his mind
chorus
There's a multitude of story
Some is clean and some are gory
But there is no need to worry
If you're sold or if you're bought
We're just spinning on some granite
That we like to call a planet
And if you need to contemplate
Well here's an optimistic thought
