OK, this is just my messy little solo rendition of the song. As far as
I can tell, both guitars in the original seem to be standard-tuned. If
you don't mind raising the key to E, however, it also works well "capo
drop-D" (so that you get that low bass note but can still finger chords
the same).
INTRO (solo, I think it works well to just do the palm-muted rhythm
guitar part the first time through):
palm-muted:
x54xxx x50xxx x54xxx x50xxx
x55xxx x50xxx x55xxx x50xxx
x54xxx x50xxx x22xxx x22xxx
x00xxx ...
full-chord:
x04232 x00232 x04232 x00232 (hit 1st string only on beat 1)
320030
x00232 x00230 x0203x x0200x [E-2p0-----5-]
x00232 D lick ---------------> [B-----3-----]
VERSE (same as full-chord intro, then):
577655 (slide up to this)
x98676 xT9787 x9EETx x7998x (Ttenth fret, Eeleventh)
(or 244322 355433 244222 022000)
REPEAT INTRO (no palm-muting)
REPEAT VERSE
LALALA:
x24432 x54232 x24432 x54232 ... (just move your pinky)
x1333x 355433
DREAMY:
[355433] [577655] [799777]
[799777] ...[577655][355433]
3xxxxx 2xxxxx 0xxxxx/5xxxxx
INSTRUMENTAL VERSES WITH KAZOO/WHISTLE/HARMONICA SOLO, ETC. (the first
time through after the dreamy bridge, you can do palm-muting like the
intro)
ENDS WITH CHAOS AND RANDOMNESS or however you want

We believed it was time to lift off from the land of vertigo.
The captain said "despite the wind and tide you will all have to row."
Does that mean that the ones who do not wish to row won't wish to go?
Ma was mawkish 'cause the house we'd left we'd surely never know again.
We search for planets where the land won't be the kind you have to sow.
We have left behind pernicious minds and fancy lies.
oh we thought it so dreamy
the way it spun our time
everything was so easy
if we hid behind the lies
that made us seem heavenly
that made us reel
we were usually tripping
till we couldn't feel
but our souls were just dripping
out all that was real
thank God i get to go away from vertigo.
