This is the first Tab I've ever made, so feel free to give me crap if it's not a good
I don't need your DAMNED pity! Haha, anyways, this is the tab for the version of the song
in the second half of Noah and the Whale's first La Blogotheque video. Here's the url:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v4pzjfjGZKcg
This is NOT the tab for the first two songs played on the video, it's the tab for the
played towards the end in the apartment.
(note:for the intro and verse 1, use the A bar chord instead of the easier one lower on
neck. For the rest of the song just use regular A.)
Intro:
A (CLAP CLAP CLAP!)
Verse 1:
[A]When the baby's b[E]orn
Oh, let's t[A]urn it to the s[E]now
So that [F#m]ice will surely g[E]row
Over [F#m]weak and brittle b[E]ones
Oh, let's le[A]ave it to the wol[E]ves
So their t[A]eeth turn it to fo[E]od
Oh, its f[F#m]lesh keeps them al[E]ive
Oh, its d[F#m]eath helps them su[E]rvive
Oh, the w[F#m]orld c[A]an be k[E]ind in its own [F#m]way[E]
(repeat the chord progression for verse 1 instrumentally before going into verse 2)
Verse 2:
Oh well your fu[A]ture's a ma[E]chine
With the mec[A]hanics of a dr[E]eam
It is your m[F#m]ind that spins the wh[E]eel
And your h[F#m]eart that makes you fe[E]el
All the gu[A]ilt for all your s[E]ins
Oh and a[A]s that wheel sp[E]ins
Oh well it p[F#m]lays as they be[E]lieved
And for your h[F#m]usband you have gr[E]ieved
Oh the w[F#m]orld st[A]ill dece[E]ives you as it t[F#m]urns[E]
(no instrumental break, cut straight to the next part)
D (let ring) A (triplets)
Well in my lucid moments I could see
F#m (let ring) E (triplets)
Oh that the heart might be the weakest part of me
D (let ring) A (triplets)
Oh and the moon controls the movements of the tide
F#m (let ring) E (triplets)
Oh but it has no weight on the movements of my mind
(This next part is acapella until the next chord is brought up. This section is supposed
be suspenseful so I would implore you to improvise with what you have around you as
through this section, and have your friends or audience sing it with you)
NC
But if you turn your hands into flames
All their light will burn the same
Whether you just pass it through
or if it's what you want to do
(NC) D A
And your sense of culpability
Is from the gu[D]ides that you pe[A]rceive
Will show you gr[F#m]ace
Oh when you turn to a gho[E]st
Oh but n[D]ow the love you fo[A]und
Is raising y[D]ou from muddy gr[A]ound
And oh the de[D]ath will let you d[A]own
'Cause your cu[F#m]rse
Will go on the sa[E]me
AND THAT'S THE END! Such a fun song, both to listen to and to play. Once again, feel
to criticize me if I'm wrong, in fact, e-mail me at Tinysharpieman@hotmail.com about it.
me your corrections, etc. Also, if you know the fiddle part and want to make a tab
that, feel free to use this as a reference.
