This is the best I could do, It's also only the second one i could find all over. If
don't like it, Fix it.

so really theres only 3 parts to the song... theres the first part of the verse, "Old
Joseph...is time." the second part of the verse "I come by...for the last." and the
also the whole song is capo'd at 4 or 5.
capo 5

[D]Old John Joseph was a [G]man with two first [D]names
[Em] [A] [G]
[A]They left him in the railroad yard when they took away the trains
[D]Only one run a week comes on [G]roaring down that [D]line
[Em] [A] [G] [G/F#]
[Em]So all he's got to worry 'bout is time.

I [Em]come by in the evening to [Bm]hear 'bout where he's been
He[C] says - Come on sit down Kid, [A]where shall I begin?
He starts [Em]telling me the stories of the [Bm]glories of his past
C D/sus2 D D D
But he always saves the story of his Corey for the last.

And he says - My [D]Corey's coming. No more [G]sad stories coming
My [Em]midnight-moonlight-[A]morning-glory's [G]coming aren't you [A]girl?
And [D]like I told you, when she [G]holds you
She [A]enfolds you in her [D]world.

[D]I was quite surprised to find out all the [G]places that he [D]knew
And [Em]so I asked the [A]townfolk if his [G]stories were [A]true
They said - [D]Old John was born here, [G]he's lived here all his [D]life
He's [Em]never had a [A]woman, [G]let alone a [A]wife.

And [Em]very soon you'll find out [Bm]as you check around
That [C]no one named Corey's ever [A]lived in this town
So I[Em] chided the old man 'bout the [Bm]truth that I had heard
C D/sus2 D D D
But he smiled and said - Reality is only just a word.

[D]I came by one evening [G]but he did not hear [D]my shout
[Em]I looked in the [A]window and [G]saw the fire was [A]out
[D]When he would not wake up I [G]forced in the [D]door
[Em]And found that Old John [A]Joseph would tell [G]stor[A]ies no [D]more.

[Dm]The scene at the graveyard, three of us were there
[Dm]Me and the gravedigger [Em]heard the parson's [A]prayer
[A]He said - We need not grieve for this man,
[A]For we know that God cares!

[D]They put the cold dirt over him and [G]left me on my [D]own
[Em]And when at last I l[A]ooked up I [G]saw I was not [A]alone
[D]So I said - If you're a relative, he [G]had a peaceful [D]end.
[Em]She said - My name is [A]Corey - you can [G]say I'm [A]just a [D]friend.

[D]Corey's coming, no more [G]sad stories coming
My [Em]midnight-moonlight-[A]morning-glory's [G]coming aren't you [A]girl?
And [D]like I told you, when she [G]holds you
She [A]enfolds you in her [D]world.

So [D]that's the old man's story, I'm [G]glad you came [D]tonight
A [Em]busted down old [A]railroad yard sure [G]makes a lonely [A]sight
You may wonder [D]why a young man would [G]work out here [D]alone
[Em] [A] [G][G/F#]
[Em]Well the job pays enough to keep some flesh on my bones.

[Em]And I confess I get to missing [Bm]the old man a bit
C D/sus2 D D D
And there's one other reason I guess I should admit -
Can't you see my [D]Corey's coming, no more [G]sad stories [D]coming
My [Em]midnight-moonlight-[A]morning-glory's [G]coming aren't you [A]girl?
And [D]like he told me, [G]when she holds me
She [A]enfolds me in her [D]world.
