Good God's Urge
Transcribed by Stan Muller Ronn151@aol.com
Another in my PFP series
The beginning is played with an E and a form of F# with the top two(b and
high e) strings open. Hammer on to the high e right before the changes.
I'll refer to the weird form of F# by F# since i don't know it's real
name.
[E]You didn't have to give your [F#]necklace, to me before you [E]left
now i lay awake and [F#]think, how very smart you [E]were
Thought about you every [F#]day..
[D] I hear the [E]rain coming in from miles a[D]way
air is as [E]clean as your skin is to my [D]face
thought about you [E]every day...
[G] 100 [A]ways
[G] i thought about you and [A]me 100 ways
[G] 100 [A]ways
[E] [F#] [E] [F#]
[E]Now i lay awake and [F#]dream, you're right above my [E]face
look in to my [F#]eyes the way you do, don't look [E]away
thought about you every [F#]day
[D] Birds build their [E]homes, right above my [D]head
They make the [E]same, kind of sounds you [D]do
When we're laying in my [E]bed...
[G] 100 [A]ways
[G] i thought about you and [A]me 100 ways
[G] 100 [A]ways
[E] [F#] [E] [F#]
Here the break goes to a different tempo with more strange chord
formations. Again the E is normal, but on the B and A in this section
play a major bar chord rooted on the low e, with the top two strings open.
[B] [A] [E]
[A] [B]
Repeat this a couple of times with improv on the vocals then:
[E] [F#] [E] [F#]
(For this verse, strum chord once and let ring)
[E] And if i had my [F#]way, when i woke up
[E] in the morn[F#]ing, i would read and write
[E] before i ever drew the [F#]shade,, i would kiss you
[E] before you opened up your [F#]eyes
(Back to regular strumming)
[D] Birds build their [E]homes, right above my [D]head
They make the [E]same, kind of sounds you [D]do
When we're laying in my [E]bed...
[G] 100 [A]ways
[G] i thought about you and [A]me 100 ways
G A E(Let Ring)
100 ways
That's as close as i can get to the album version

A. B.
[E] [E7/F#] [E] [F#] [G] [B]
a. intro/verses. the E note on the D string gets played twice
before the percussion starts sneaking in and then this is
played. i'm pretty sure i'm missing a chord in there somewhere,
but i can't find it.
b. for the chorus and the scat singing part and
"in the morning, if i had my way..."
