I disagree with the other three tabs for this song. Here is the way that sounds right to me:
Tom Dooley
During the into and breaks between verses, you should alternate between E and Esus4 by
your baby finger up and down on the C# (fifth string, fret 2) while holding the E chord
traditional form.
[E]Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and [Fm]cry,
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, your bound to [E]die,
[E]I met her on the mountain,
and there I took her [Fm]life,
Met her on the mountain,
stabbed her with my [E]knife,
[E]Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and[Fm] cry,
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, your bound to [E]die,
[E]This time tomorrow,
reckon' where I'd[Fm] be,
Hadn't been for Grayson,
I'd been in Tennes[E]see,
[E]Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and[Fm] cry,
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, your bound to [E]die,
[E]This time tomorrow,
reckon' where I'll[Fm] be,
Down in some lonesome valley,
hangin' from a wide oak [E]tree,
[E]Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and [Fm]cry,
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, your bound to [E]die,
[E]Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and[Fm] cry,
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, your bound to [E]die.
