I'm not 100% convinced I have the right chord at the end of the 5th line in the
chorus...and the 2nd to last line...
Capo 1
[G] [Em] [G] [Em]
He was [G]sitting on the front porch of a [Em]half-way house
[C]Chainin' cigarettes and drinkin' [G]coffee
[G]I was walkin' by on [Em]my way home
[C]Stopped and said, hello, how [G]are ya
He [Em]looked at me and said, I've seen b[A7]etter days
I [C]looked at him and said, there's a [D]better way
Chorus:
Three nails and a [G]cross
[C]Equal [G]forgiveness
[G]Just like you, I was [Em]lost
[A7]And that's hell to have to [C]live with[D]
[Em]I've sat on the front porch where you're [Bm]sittin' now
I kept [G]lookin' deep inside 'til I [A7]figured out
Three nails and a [G]cross [D]equal for[G]giveness
She was sittin' on her bed crying crocodiles
Sixteen ain't a good age to be pregnant
And she thinks mom and dad won't love her anymore
Like the boy who swore he always would but doesn't
She turns and sees that Bible laying by her bed
And she crumbles to her knees as she bows her head
Chorus 2:
Three nails and a cross
Equal forgiveness
Lord help me 'cause I'm lost
And that's hell to have to live with
I need you more than ever now, without a doubt
I've made a big mistake, can you help me out
Three nails and a [G]cross [D]equal for[Em]giveness[Bm]
Three nails and a [G]cross [D]equal for[G]giveness
