No Wheels To Ride - Mott The Hoople.

This starts off as a fairly slow, sad song and then livens up with the solo before quietening down again.
One of Mott The Hoople's songs from their early years with Island Records. The basic chords are fairly
to get the hang off, although you can experiment with picking and messing around over them to get an effect
to that of the original song.

Intro:

This is just an A chord which kind of drones for a bit, then:

Verse:

[G]No wheels to [D/F#]ride

[G]No wheels to [D]travel

[G]No tracks to [D/F#]take on [Em]down[A]

[G]The road I [D/F#]walk [G]is getting heavy[D]

[G]But I must [D/F#]still go [Em]on[A]

[G]And in the [D/F#]night

[G]I hear the [D]calling

[G]As the [D/F#]train goes [Em]by[A]

[G]Then all I[D/F#] hear is[G] my footsteps [D]falling

[G]Upon the [D/F#]tears I [Em]cry[A]

Chorus: (Picking over the chords seems to work well)

[D]If I could[D/F#] find a bette[G]r way t[A]o get to you

You [D]know that[D/F#] I would[G][A]

[D]No money[D/F#] lines my pockets[G] now

But [A]by the spring you [D]know that it[D/F#] should[G][A]

[D]Well I just cant wait[D/F#] to catch that Grey[G]hound bus

That will [A]take me back [D]right to y[D/F#]our side[G][A]

Post Chorus Bit:

[D]Can't get enough

[D/F#]Can't get enough

Can't [G]get enough

[A]I can't get enough of your l[D]ove[D/F#][G][A]

Solo:

D D/F# G A Repeat this sequence as necessary.

Then there's a fill in bit that goes like:

[D] [G] [D]
Verse:

[G]So I'll [D/F#]go on[G] making[D] time

[G]'Til I can [D/F#]see a [Em]way[A]

[G]Maybe to[D/F#]morrow[G] I'll find a [D]future

[G]Baby [D/F#]all I can [Em]say[A]

Chorus:

[D]If I can [D/F#]find a better [G]way to [A]get to you

You [D]know[D/F#] that I w[G]ill[A]

[D]No mone[D/F#]y lines my pocket[G]s now

But [A]by the spring you [D]know yes you [D/F#]know that it wi[G]ll[A]

[D]And someday [D/F#]soon I'll see you [G]there [A]waiting at the station [D]just for [D/F#]me[G][A]

Post-Chorus Bit:

[D]I just can't wait

[D/F#]I just can't wait

[G]I just can't wait

[A]For you to get back

D D/F# G A Until end.

Good song methinks.....
