Here's 'Get High, See Mice', by The Smith Street Band. I'm not 100% on the lyrics,
there's almost nothing about them online so I wrote them to the best of my abilities.
I'll leave you to figure out the picking, it's quite straightforward. The strumming
pattern however is tricky until you get the hang of it.
Chorus uses these chords (I know the names aren't right, just use for reference):
e|--3-----3-----3-----3--------------------------------------|
B|--3-----3-----3-----3--------------------------------------|
G|--0-----0-----0-----0--------------------------------------|
D|--2-----0-----2-----0--------------------------------------|
A|--3-----2-----0-----2--------------------------------------|
E|--------------------3--------------------------------------|
[Cadd9] [B] [A] [G]
It sounds good in capo 1 on acoustic, but I think Wil plays it in Eb using the chords A
E D instead of G D Cadd9 respectively.
Verse 1
I was gonna [G]lie and steal, my [D]way to the stars,
I was gonna[Cadd9] do it from the front seat of your own registered car,
I was gonna [G]pull my blindfold over[D] everyone,
I was gonna [Cadd9]find a way of making you fall for me, when I was done.
But I'm n[G]ot that young and I'm n[D]ot that dumb a[Cadd9]nymore,
No I'm n[G]ot that young and I'm n[D]ot that dumb a[Cadd9]nymore.
Always[G], holding ha[D]nds under the table,[Cadd9]
With a keen eye for whatever's more available,
Gotta be [G]signatures with little hearts on[D] every little note,
Left the [Cadd9]first line blank in case someone caught your eye, while you wrote.
And it's ta[G]ken me this long to think we're[D] anything, but you're his[Cadd9].
And I alw[G]ays hated the taste of your[D] pushy, drunken, alcoholic, [Cadd9]ashtray lips
Chorus
But the [Cadd9]city gets pr[B]etty for [A]those few [B]hours when the [Cadd9]trains aren't [B]running[A][G]
And I'm [Cadd9]locking down [B]my door in advan[A]ce,[B]
Cuz the [Cadd9]wolves are coming, the wolves are [D]coming[G][D][Cadd9]
Verse 2
Oh you [G]meet me on the corner of,[D] Johnson and Brunswick,
Singing[Cadd9] my heart out for loose change with, my acoustic,
Spending [G]rainy days indoors trying to sing [D]other people's protest [Cadd9]songs,
It's a beautiful music.
And I'm [G]haunted by the ghost of [D]my more famous friends,
I spend [Cadd9]every season complaining, waiting for the season to end.
I like to [G]think that I'm encompassing but I'm [D]always getting comfortable,
You never [Cadd9]gave me twenty minutes just to catch my breath.
You were [G]kissing me,[D] I'm fucking someone else[Cadd9].
Chorus
But the [Cadd9]city gets pr[B]etty for [A]those few [B]hours when the [Cadd9]trains aren't [B]running[A][G]
And I'm [Cadd9]locking down my d[B]oor in advance[A],[B]
Cuz the [Cadd9]wolves are coming, the wolves are [D]coming[G][Cadd9][D]
And I'm not coming [G]back, to the [Cadd9]bars we used to drink at,[D]
Or the drinks we used to sling[G], or the pe[Cadd9]ople we used to drink with[D],
became the people that we used, and
[G]Ever since you said you saw a [Cadd9]mouse in my house,
[D]Every single time I get high I see mice
And the [G]people that we used to d[Cadd9]rink with, became the p[D]eople that we used
But the [Cadd9]city gets [B]pretty for t[A]hose few [B]hours when the [Cadd9]trains aren't [B]running.[A][G]
[(Cadd9] [B] [A] [B)]
[Cadd9]What's that, I t[D]hink I hear the wolves coming
But the[Cadd9] city gets p[B]retty for [A]those few [B]hours when the [Cadd9]trains aren't [B]running
And I [A]think I hear the [G]wolves coming, I'm [Cadd9]locking down my [B]door in [A]advance,[G]
Cuz the [Cadd9]wolves are coming, the wolves are [D]coming[G][Cadd9][D]
[G] [Cadd9] [D]
[G] [Cadd9]
[G] [Cadd9]
[G] [Cadd9]
There it is, have fun with it!
