Shots - Neil Young
tabbed by Stan Southern
Here are the chords and words to "Shots",
the Boarding House 5/27/78 version.
This song is played in a "dropped" tuning
(DGCFAD, instead of EADGBE). However,
the chords I have listed are those that
would be played as if there was no dropped tuning.
Thus, an Am as I have it written is really a
Gm I guess. But it's a lot easier to play it
in the dropped tuning.
I can't remember the name of one chord - it's A something.
I have it listed as A', but it's really just 003210
(it's that chord from My My Hey Hey)
Thanks to Steve Vetter for motivating me to transcribe
this.

[Am]Children[F]
Are lost in the san[C]d clearing [G]roads with little [Am]hands[F]
Trying to [C]join their father's [E]castles together [Am]again[F]
Will they [C]make it? [G]Who knows where or wh[Am]en[F]
Old wounds will [G]mend
[Am]Shots[F]
Ringing [C]all along the [G]borders can be [Am]heard[F]
Comin' [C]down like a [E]venom in the [Am]sky[F]
Cutting through the [C]air [G]faster than a [Am]bird[F]
in the [G]night
[Am]Machines[F]
Are [C]winding their way [G]along, looking [Am]strong[F]
Building [C]roads and [E]bringing back [Am]loads[F]
of [C]buildin[G]g mater[Am]ials[F]
in the [G]night
[Am]Men[F]
Are trying to [C]move the [G]boulders on the [Am]ground[F]
lines [C]between the different [E]spots that each has [Am]found[F]
but back [C]home another [G]scene was going [Am]down[F]
in the [G]night
[Am]Lust[F]
Comes [C]creepin' through the [G]night to feed on [Am]hearts[F]
of suburban [C]wives who [E]learned to pre[Am]tend[F]
when they [C]met their [G]dreams [Am]end[F]
in the [G]night
Am G A'
But I'll never use your love you know I'm not like that
Am G A'
and so if you give your heart to me
[Dm]I promise to [E7]you
[Dm]whatever we d[E7]o
A' G C A' C A'
that I will always be true
[Am]Children[F]
Are lost in the san[C]d clearing [G]roads with little [Am]hands[F]
Trying to [C]join their father's [E]castles together [Am]again[F]
Will they [C]make it? [G]Who knows where or wh[Am]en[F]
