My first contribution on here as I noticed this song was missing.
It's a beautiful song and straightforward to play albeit I use a capo at
Fret1 because it suits my voice better. I also find these better chords to
use than those Harry Chapin uses as he seems to play it open fret in D (you
can achieve this with by putting the capo at Fret 2). The only other change
is he changes key for the last verse but that doesn't work for me. Anyhow
here it is and I hope it works for you.

Mail Order Annie (Harry Chapin)
Fret 1 or 2 (Chapin plays it in D)
Intro: C Em Am F G G7
At f[C]irst I did not [Em]think it could be y[Am]ou
But y[F]ou're the only one that got off the tr[G]ain[G7]
So [E]you must be my[E7] wife Miss Annie[Am] Halsey, yes, [Am7]yes
[F]I must be your husband. Y[G]es, I'm Harry [G7]Crane
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]never mind your [C]cryin'
Your tears are [Em]sweet rain in my [F]empty [G]life[G7]
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]can't you see I'm [C]tryin'
To [F]tell you that I'm [C]glad you're here
[F]You who are the [G]woman
Who's [F]come to [G]be my [C]wife
You [C]know you're not as [Em]pretty as I [Am]dreamed you'd be
But t[F]hen I'm not no handsome fancy [G]Dan[G7]
And [E]out here looks are [E7]really not [Am]important, no,[Am7] no
It's [F]what's inside a woman when she's [G]up against the [G7]land
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]never mind your [C]cryin'
Your tears are [Em]sweet rain in my [F]empty [G]life[G7]
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]can't you see I'm [C]tryin'
To [F]tell you that I'm [C]glad you're here
[F]You who are the [G]woman
Who's [F]come to [G]be my [C]wife[Em][Am]
You [Am]know it's not no easy life you're [A#maj7]entering
The [Am]winter wind comes whistlin' through the crac[A#maj7]ks there in the sod
You [Am]know you'll never have too many n[F]eighbours
There's [Am]you babe, and there's me,[Dm7] and there's [G]God[G7]
[C]You know I'm just a [Em]dirt man from the [Am]North Dakota plains
You're [F]one girl from the city who's been [G]thrown out on her own
And I'm [E]standing here not [E7]sure of what to [Am]say to yo[Am7]u
'Ceptin' [F]mail order Annie, let's [G]you and me go [G7]home
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]never mind your [C]cryin'
Your tears are [Em]sweet rain in my [F]empty [G]life[G7]
[C]Mail order [Em]Annie, [F]can't you see I'm [C]tryin'
