I think that the following track by Wet Wet Wet
off their "Picture This" album was an excellent example
of acoustic guitar playing. Hope I heard the words
right: E&OE. I also scrimped on the "la la la" bit :-)
Intro: G C G C
[G]Ten years before my time
I [C]sang a song to a friend of mine
D G (D C G)
'bout a girl working for a dime
[G]I didn't know that gypsy girl
but I [C]knew about her kind of thrill
Her [D]love was cheap and always up for [G]sale
[C]ooh picture [D]this, I was [Em]alone
but [D]when I fell in love
I was [C]alone... ooh with my gypsy [G]girl
(little run: G C G D C G
The D is a plain C chord up two frets to make a D. Play it fast
enough and it sounds okay. )
Now a [G]gypsy lady lost her soul
and [C]she's so scared of growin' old
but [D]words don't age for me
they turn to [G]gold
[G]Gypsy girl with raven hair
[C]holds my open(?) to the air
[D]she's the one that never seems to c[G]are....
[C]ooh picture [D]this, I not [Em]alone
but [D]when I sing a song
I'm not [C]alone... with my gypsy [G]girl
with my gypsy girl
la la la la la la, la la la la la la.....
[C]ooh picture [D]this, I'm not [Em]alone
but [D]when I sing your song
I'm not [C]alone... with my gypsy [G]girl
My gypsy girl
