Dusk and Summer - Dashboard Confessional

Ok, so there are a lot of tabs for this song that come close, but not quite. They have
right chords, just not the right positions. I figured it out a while ago and then saw
in concert last week. After watching Chris play this song, I can tell you this is 100% accurate.
Capo: 2nd fret (Notes relative)
Tuning: Standard
| x Mute note
CHORDS:
C G/B D/F# G G/B C2
INTRO: C
VERSE 1:
She smiled in a[G/B] big way
The way a girl like that [D/F#]smiles
When the world is [C]hers. And she held your eyes
Out in the bre[G/B]ezeway, down by the [D/F#]shore
In the lazy sum[C]mer
And she pulled you [G/B]in
And she bit your [D/F#]lip
And she made you he[C]rs
She looked [G/B]deep into you as you lay together
[D/F#]Quiet in the grasp of dusk and[C] summer
CHORUS:
But you?ve [G]already l[D/F#]ost
G/B C2
But you?ve already lost
But you?ve [G]already l[D/F#]ost
G/B C G/B D/F# C
When you only had barely enough to hang on
VERSE 2:
And she combed your [G/B]hair
And she kissed your [D/F#]teeth
And she made you b[C]etter than you?d been before
And she told you b[G/B]ad things
that you wished you could c[D/F#]hange
In the lazy su[C]mmer
And she told you la[G/B]ughing
down to her c[D/F#]ore
So she would not [C]cry and she lay in your lap
as she said [G/B]?Nobody here can live forever
[D/F#]Quiet in the grasp of dusk an[C]d summer.?
(CHORUS)
BRIDGE- This is the only kinda tricky part of the song. Play this...:
"She said..."
"Some things tie your life..."
...while you sing this:
She said ?No one is alone the way you are alone.?
And you held her looser than you would?ve if you ever could?ve known
Some things tie your life together
With slender threads of things to treasure
Days like that should last and last and last
FINAL CHORUS:
But you?ve[G] already [D/F#]lost
G/B C2
But you?ve already lost
But you?ve [G]already l[D/F#]ost
G/B C G/B D/F#
When you only had barely enough of her to hang on
Hang o[C]n
Hang [G/B]on[D/F#]
Hang [C]on
That's it. Email me with any questions.
