Tuning a rare STANDARD for Mr. Malkmus.
Intro:
These are the actual chords, but its a lot easier w/ a capo on 1st fret.
If playing w/ capo 1st fret, obviously just move each chord down half step
for appropriate fingerings.
[C#]Bleed the pot When you're [C#/C]hot you're hot
And when enough i[Bbm]s enough Do the fakers drop[F#] out?
[C#]Promise me You will alw[C#/C]ays be
Too [Bbm]awake to be famous Too w[F#]ired to be safe
But [C#]all you really [C#/C]wanted
Bbm F#
Was everything Plus everything
And the [C#]truth I only poured [G#]you Half a [F#]line[C#]
Lead Guitar Part (starts at Everything Plus everything)
(Play intro part again here)
[C#]Carry on It's a mar[C#/C]athon
Take me [Bbm]off the list I don't wan[F#]t to be missed
[C#]Carrion Its what we all[C#/C] become
From [Bbm]small minds and tall trees Away f[F#]rom the action
But [C#]all you ever wa[C#/C]nted
Bbm F#
Was everything And everything
Plus the [C#]truth I only poured [G#]you Half a[F#]live Half a[C#]live
[C#] I only poured you ha[G#]lf a lie[F#][C#]
( Tab from: http://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/s/stephen_malkmus/church_on_white_tab.html )
(Lead Guitar part shown above played here as well)
(Next Malkmus plays the intro w/ subtle variations in it. I just improvise
this part.)
(Now, this weird double guitar harmony solo thing (at 2:17) is impossible to
figure out. Sorry. Please email me if you can figure it out.)
(Now for this guitar solo, there is a second guitar part harmonizing along
the way, but this is the main melody for the solo. Play it alone and itll
still sound nice. The end gets sort of questionable, but still sounds
close. Then the last 5 notes are a perfectly awesome ending. Listen to song
for exact timing of everything.)
Guitar Solo (starting at 2:35)
Enjoy! Such a great song. I was surprised I couldn't find a tab, so I
decided to do it myself.
Peace.
