Hey this is my tab for bats by Paul Dempsey. Pull off the high E string when
playing C in the verse, I am unsure what the correct name is for the E chord in the pre-chorus.
Verse 1
[C]Come rebuild your memory with a small mountain of burning leaves
[Am]And a swinging wire door that sl[Em]ams shut like a guil[Am]lotine
[C]Strum a note up in the wires
To send bats down the river, seagul[Am]ls around spires
A[Em]nd shred all the twilight, [Am]scatter it city-wide
Pre-Chorus
Fmaj7 E
Those average angels
Fmaj7 E
The drunken saints with heavy heads
[Fmaj7]They can keep dreaming, dreaming of [Am]sleep down the end of [F]the bed[C]
Chorus
[C]But nobody[Em9]'s ever gonna br[Am]eak your heart aga[F]in
Verse 2
[C]And the high-pitched, crooked thoughts
[C]That ricocheted off the walls
[Am]She just set them down qu[Em]iet, safe in her dresse[Am]r drawer
[C]She laid me out on the laundromat floor
And said "You'll be not nea[Am]rly who you were anymore
[Em]And I'll always be here to rem[Am]ind you what time is for"
Pre-Chorus
Fmaj7 E
And those average angels
Fmaj7 E
The drunken saints with heavy heads
Fmaj7 E
You see their spirits are cowering under the table
[Fmaj7]And they're still counting,[Am] counting the brea[F]ths under the[C]ir breath
Chorus
[C]But[Em9] nobod[Am]y's e[F]ver X2
[C]But nobody[Em9]'s ever gonna br[Am]eak your heart aga[F]in
